Balloons and paddleboats, clever diversions, sneakily flown in family members. Manik’s proposal to the lovely Nimisha was way beyond special.
Both Manik and Nimisha’s families snuck into town, all the way from Texas!, to participate as balloon flyers and share in the celebration of their love. We met up with them at the paddleboat house about a half hour before go time to make sure we all got onto our boats and into place. We paddled our little hearts out for this one ya’ll. Despite the unexpected workout, everyone rounded up their boats in front of the Thomas Jefferson Memorial with the biggest smiles. Waiting for the couple to arrive is always the hardest part. The anticipation grew once we spotted them across the basin and watched as they got ever closer. On queue the family raised up their “Will you marry me?” balloons. Our favorite part is always watching to see the bride to be’s reaction. Nimisha’s was one of the most entertaining as it shifted from confusion to surprise at seeing her family, to realization of the moment that was happening, to pure giddiness at saying ‘yes’ to her love.
Back on dry land, we were able to steal Manik and Nimisha away to make some sunny portraits of this joyous moment before sending them off to celebrate. Congrats you guys!
