Sean and Jessica’s engagement session at Blackrock Summit in Virginia was one for the books. We woke up early to make the drive down from Washington, DC, to catch the sunrise and it was 100% worth it for these incredible views.
These two were incredibly laid-back and playful and photographing them was a joy. No matter how cold or windy the morning got, Sean and Jessica had smiles on their faces. They wrapped up together in a special blanket made with Sean’s family tartan and took in the incredible sights of Shenandoah National Park in the fall. After sunrise photos on the summit, we made our way down through the trails and stopped for more photos at some points along the way. One of my favorite spots was the area where the path had been carved through a rock outcropping, creating the perfect natural alleyway for these two to cuddle up.
Shenandoah National Park Engagement Photos
Shenandoah is one of my favorite places for fall engagement sessions. In such a huge national park, there are so many great locations to choose from. From Skyline Drive, which is easily accessible by car, to all the beautiful hiking trails – if you want a stunning vista of fall leaves for your engagement session, this is the place to go. Blackrock Summit, in particular, is a great spot for couples who are up for a little bit of hiking, but not looking for something strenuous. With just over a mile hike to reach the top, this was a lovely morning hike with incredibly rewarding views. Plus, it’s only an hour from Charlottesville, VA, so you can make a fun day trip out of it!
