Beth and Joe are a super fun and genuine couple. When they told us they wanted to have their engagement session at their favorite bar that doubles as an arcade, Lyman’s Tavern, Greg and I were so excited! This cozy little dive bar with vintage pinball machines is such a gem, and it was great to see Joe and Beth cut loose. They took turns playing pinball (with much higher scores than I could have gotten) and telling us about their wedding plans as we clicked away.
In addition to the awesome indoor space, we also took advantage of Lyman’s outdoor patio area to bring in some of the fall colors that were starting to show up. Beth and Joe grabbed their beers and headed to the covered outdoor space for even more snuggles and laughs. I love it when couples choose to take their engagement photos somewhere special to them, especially when it’s super unique like this one!
Boulder Bridge Engagement
For the second part of their engagement session, we all headed to Boulder Bridge in Rock Creek Park to hang out with Joe’s beloved pickup truck and have a little adventure in the woods. Rock Creek is a gorgeous park and tons of great options for couples who want an engagement session in nature without leaving DC city limits. This spot in particular is especially beautiful during fall as the leaves begin to change color and reflect back in the water – and who wouldn’t want to spend your session wrapped up in a blanket in your coziest fall sweater?
It was truly a joy to photograph these two and get to check out Lyman’s Tavern! I highly recommend thinking of your session as an opportunity for a fun date night using your favorite spot as the backdrop. Not only will it make you more comfortable in front of the camera, but it also makes the photos even more personal when you look back on this unique time in your life.
