Although proposing in DC wasn’t LeeAnne’s original plan, we’re so glad that we were able to be a part of this gorgeous proposal. After her original plan to propose in Italy was canceled due to COVID-19, and then her hot air balloon flight was canceled due to windy conditions, LeeAnne had to come up with a plan C for her proposal to Sarah. We quickly pivoted with a boat rental on the Potomac, and it turned out to be a stunning proposal.
Potomac River Boat Proposal
There are few things more exhilarating than having to sneak around right before a proposal. Although they’ve since admitted that Sarah knew something was up due to LeeAnne’s excitement, Greg and I took our jobs as undercover photographers very seriously. LeeAnne had dropped off a cooler with champagne at our house the evening before, so by the time they arrived at their boat rental from Boatsetter I was already on board with the supplies.
Sarah had believed that they were just going out to dinner with friends, so when LeeAnne brought them to the boat, Sarah was surprised and excited. The captain welcomed them aboard, I introduced myself to the couple as a staff member from the boat company, and we were on our way. After a short sail towards the dock Greg was stationed on, LeeAnne pulled out the gorgeous ring and popped the question!
LeeAnne’s proposal speech to Sarah was beautiful and heartfelt, and the ring she picked out was stunning. After Sarah’s confident “Yes!”, they popped champagne and we continued our sail along the river. DC is always a beautiful city, but seeing it from the water at sunset was an incredible new perspective.
