This proposal brings a smile to my face every time I look at these photos. It was so much fun to be a part of Matt’s surprise proposal to Sasha, and I’m so glad that I was able to witness her joy first-hand.
Washington DC Proposal Photography
Matt reached out to us with plans to propose to Sasha down at the dock next to Salt Line in the Navy Yard neighborhood of DC. This quiet spot was special to Sasha as it was somewhere she visited often during the pandemic to get some fresh air and read. It has a beautiful view of the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge and was a great spot for photos.
On the day of the proposal, not only were Greg and I in hiding, but Sasha’s best friend and her partner had come into town to be witness to the moment as well. Matt and Sasha came out for a walk on the dock, and when Matt got down on one knee Sasha absolutely lit up. I’ve seen a lot of proposals in my years as a photographer, but her reaction was one of my favorites. She fell to her knees and jumped in the air, all in a manner of moments – just absolutely elated at the fact that she was going to get to marry Matt.
After they’d had their moment, Matt and Sasha got to celebrate with her best friend. They popped some champagne and we took a few photos before heading off to the second surprise of the evening: the party that Matt had planned with their friends and family.
We walked over to the Hampton Inn and Suites where Sasha thought we were meeting with her friends before the baseball game, but instead we ventured in to Top of the Yard and were greeted by even more friends and family. The space was fully decorated, and everyone was so excited to celebrate these two. Matt pulled off such an incredible evening full of surprises for Sasha, and I loved being a part of it.
