Casey and Danny planned a super laid-back elopement in Old Town Alexandria that perfectly reflected these two effortlessly cool people. With only ten guests, their wedding day felt intimate and intentional, and I’m so glad I could photograph it for them!

We started off the morning at Casey and Danny’s house in Alexandria. One of Casey’s top requests of the morning was to get some photos with their adorable dog Hazel before Casey put on her dress. After photos with their fur baby, they split into separate parts of the house to get dressed and then Danny made his way outside for the First Look. As soon as Casey came down the steps I knew that this couple was going to absolutely stun – her tea-length off-the-shoulder dress paired with pink heels was the perfect fun and flirty elopement look. And Danny didn’t let us down either! His classic black suit was sleek and polished, and perfectly complimented Casey.
After a sweet first look in their backyard, we grabbed our sunglasses (and a much-needed fan) and hit the cobblestone streets of Alexandria. One of the things I love about sessions in historic areas like Alexandria is that you don’t need to have a particular destination. With historic homes, brick sidewalks, and cobblestone streets, everywhere you look, there’s a great photo backdrop. As we took photos, we slowly made our way to the waterfront to get some photos with the iconic “I Love You” sign and then popped into a local Irish pub for a pint before heading to the ceremony.
Carlyle House Elopement
If you’re looking for an elopement venue in Old Town Alexandria with Secret Garden vibes, Carlyle House is the perfect spot. Casey and Danny held their ceremony in the garden in front of the old stone wall, with Casey’s sister as their officiant. Due to the limited space in the garden, there isn’t availability for seating, but for Casey and Danny’s small guest count and short ceremony, it was the perfect setting. The trees kept the area shady and cool on this hot summer day, and their family and friends were so excited to witness this union.
While I love all of my DC elopements, it was refreshing to get out of the big city into Old Town Alexandria for this celebration. I had so much fun spending the afternoon with Casey & Danny for their big day!
